Non-Ambition

I love synchronicity. And I love paradox. I have been thinking about my work - questions like:

  • How much self-promotion do I have to do to reach people, how much I can leave to a greater power?
  • Where does effort fit in? How far do I have to move out of my comfort zone?
  • Where is my work headed?
  • What am I leaving behind?

Ambition is so deeply revered in this world. Strive to be all you can be. But I already am all I can be. Or I'd be something else. Wouldn't I?

Being non-ambitious isn't about not having goals or dreams or shunning hard work. I think I needed to remember that it's mostly about:

  • Accepting ourselves and our situation as it is.
  • Letting the energy that informs our lives lead the way. Letting life drive. There's more than enough energy behind that to take us anywhere.
  • Confidence, adaptability, trust in ourselves, our choices, our intuition.
  • Trust that we are already where we are supposed to be.

Then I got a magazine in yesterday's mail that has "non-ambition" as it's theme. Very timely. I wonder what the editors of Tricycle have come up with?

UPDATE: It didn't have much on non-ambition but it did have a lot of other good stuff.
